Interim Extensive infrastructure is planned to serve the future needs of the project and the surrounding community. A full interchange on US 340/US 15 is being constructed which will connect to MD 180 Jefferson Pike through a main boulevard. This will provide continuous access through the site. In order to build these improvements Frederick County sold $45 million of bonds which will be repaid through Tax Incremental Financing. Also included in the TIF Improvements is an upgrade to the existing sanitary sewer system and pumps for the water supply which will serve the increased demand. Below is a brief description of these improvements

US340/US15 Interchange

A full interchange and bridge with access ramps on both eastbound and westbound sides. For further information on the bridge project click HERE.

Infrastructure Roads

Approximately 4,400 lf of public roadways connecting the residential, retail and commercial sections to the interchange and continuing to MD 180 Jefferson Pike. Construction includes storm, sewer, water, street lighting and landscaping.

MD 180 Improvements

The project side of MD 180 will be widened to provide for turning lanes in and out of the project. This widening will eventually become part of the future planned improvement of all Jefferson Pike.

Sanitary Sewer

To provide for future flows approximately 1.7 miles of existing sanitary sewer main will be upgraded.

Tank to Tank Water Main

The County’s Division of Utilities and Solid Waste Management will be performing a capital improvements project by building a new water tower on the project and a water main from the existing Ballenger Creek water tower to the future tower. The Developer has contributed significantly to this part of the project.

Future MD 180 Improvements

In addition to constructing the new interchange the Developer has contributed $4 million dollars towards future SHA improvements to Jefferson Pike through the area of US 340 and I-70.
